Mountain & Hill Skills Days
This is an one day navigation course in the stunning scenery of the Bannau Brycheiniog (formerly known as the Brecon Beacons), near to the Pen y Fan massif. This course has been developed to give you the skills you need to get out exploring the hills and fells of the UK. Though the course is aimed at beginners wanting to start self-guided walks in the hills, some hill walking experience will be beneficial.
If you have never been hill walking and require an introductory navigation course, please check out our Introduction to Navigation Course. Alternatively if you are an experienced navigator looking for a bespoke or private day, then please check out our Bespoke Mountain Days.

On this course you will develop knowledge in the practical use of maps, measuring distances, contour lines and features and all the tools for navigation, including the use of route cards, pacing cards and a compass to orientate the map and check direction.
We will provide the following equipment for your course:

-
Weatherproof OS Maps
-
Route Cards
-
Pacing Cards
-
Compass

If you are buying your own, we would recommend the Silva Expedition 4 or similar.
